I'm currently using a google Sitemaps generator by Arnie Brachold which is supposed to create a sitemap for Google.
For some reason, It's installed fine. I activated as a plugin. Told it to update everything. When I update it, and click where the sitemap is supposed to be - I get a 404 error.

Re-Direct. I'm not sure what that is. I don't believe so.
The problem is most likely that you didn't fill in all the fields on the plugin's config page properly, or you have incorrect permissions on the directories where it's trying to write the xml file.

I'm having the same problem. I activated the plugin, hit "Rebuild Sitemap," it says it "Successfully built sitemap file:", but when I click on that address, there is nothing there, but my 404 error message. If having incorrect permissions is the problem, how is that resolved?
Any other possible solutions?
