    Hi there,

I’ve recently taken control of a blog at work and needed to upgrade from 2.9.2 to 3.3.1 to update our plug-ins and redevelop the site.

Last night I backed up the blog’s content, deactivated all plug-ins and hit the upgrade button. The site is now unreachable from both the frontend and backend, displaying a 500 Internal Server Error message instead.

I’m currently waiting on IT to give me the access to the hosting server to take a look inside. How can I fix this?

Any suggestions on fixes, what to look for or any other help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Thanks for your quick reply!

I exported the blog as XML which i’ve tested on a new wordpress site. All the content, images, comments etc all downloaded ok.

I also downloaded a backup to my hard drive through the WordPress admin controls too.

I’ve read a few articles suggesting that I look into the FTP/phpMyAdmin side of things to check the memory isn’t overloading and resetting the plug-in folder.

    What do you think?

    In that case, no.

IT got back to me and had a look into the hosting server’s backend.

The layout was broken and has now been replaced with an up to date version. We’re now back up and running.

    Thanks!
