• Hi

I have one page and 130 comments that i would like to import into a WordPress site where there is already about 900 comments.

One of the XML fields on each comment is this:
    <wp:comment_id>1</wp:comment_id>
and all the way up to
    <wp:comment_id>130</wp:comment_id>

My question is: if I import these comments via WordPress will they overwrite the comments that are already in the database (not all 900, but those from 1 to 130)?

I do not want to replace the existing comments.

Is it safe or should I “rename” the wp:comment_id to something unique that is not already in the database that I want to import to?

    Any help is much appreciated.

If no one in this forum can help with this question, can you recommend me as a place where I can try to get some assistance?

I would rename the comment id’s accordingly, 901+. Mainly cuz if you upload them as-is, i don’t think they’ll pass checks, they won’t overwrite the older ones, and you’ll loose them all. I may be wrong as I’m into a few shots of vodka now, but then again, I may be right 🙂

Thanks a lot Jerry, I really appreciate your suggestion.

I will try it out as your suggestion can not do any harm if it fails.

    Cheers 🙂
