Support » Everything else WordPress » how do I set my admin avatar?

  • Hi Id like to add an avatar to my own admin profile, but the admin profile page does not give me a place to choose one, just a selection of default avatars for all users.
2nd, I have checked yes to allow all avatars to show on comments and posts but not even the default mystery man avatar shows.
please help! is there a show_avatar code I am missing in my posts perhaps that I deleted? thanks!

It doesn’t show in your admin profile, it shows when you comment.

Hi thanks yes, the avatar will not show on my comments. i think i may be missing the code in my theme to show the avatar, even though the yes to show avatar is checked off.

switch to the 2011 theme to test and see if any avatars show up, that will help narrow things down

You won’t lose your customized templates at all if you switch themes. Yuck, thayt would suck 😀 Even widgets are (mostly) saved.

Switching themes to 2011 (or whatever the most current WP standard/default theme happens to be) and being able to deactivate all of your plugins are 2 of the most basic troubleshooting steps to learn.

If something goes bad on your site, those will be 2 of the very first things you’ll be asked… Those 2 steps can point out an answer to most common issues.

Sometimes when switching themes, I’ve had to re-set my custom menu, or re-place a widget. All simple steps. Nothing beyond that has ever been necessary.
