• Hi – I’m in the planning stages for a site, and was wondering if anyone knew of a plugin that would allow me to do the following…

When a user posts, I want a certain category to be forced upon them (depending on the user). Ideally (although not essential), I could assign two categories to a user and they’d have to select one of them.

The idea behind this is to have multiple production diaries (for short films) running through the same WordPress installation. Users would be linked to one of the productions (sometimes more than one user per production), but for their production, they’d have to put it into that production’s category.

The reason for doing them all in one installation is so that there would also be a view where all of the production diaries would be viewable.

    Any ideas?

  • This would be useful for me as well. I think it’s theoretically possible, but that doesn’t mean it actually works. I hope this bumps it up to someone else’s attention.

Try the Limit Categories plugin > see the Codex:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins

There are also a couple plug-ins out there that allows you to run multiple blogs from one WP installation. I came across one called Multiply the other night, and suggest it or something similar as a solution that might work better for you?

(This way you would have a seperate blog PER group/project/whatever, rather than being limited to one category for each group.)
