I’m not sure what version of WordPress I’m using but would like ideas and suggestions for improving my site. Maybe someone can also tell me what version I’m using for future reference. Mostly though I’d like advice on any type of improvement anyone can think of.

Also need help to set up/install a widget so people can subscribe to my blog. I’ve read some of the documentation but for me it is like reading Chinese. So any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you ahead of time for your help and advice.

Just want to give this a bump in case someone can help me.

    1) How to improve my site.

    2) How to figure out what version of WordPress I’m using.

    3) How to set up a “subscribe” widget. Is there a way of getting around all the code that some of the directions seem to require?

Try using the Meta widget (Appearance -> Widgets).

    1) How do you want to improve it? Appearance, function, speed, security?

    2. You are on WordPress 3.3.1

I’d like to improve the appearance of my website by adding pictures to my posts. Can I do that with this particular theme or would I need a different theme? If I can do it with this theme then how do I get the text to wrap around the pictures in each post?

Also, I am TOTALLY confused as to the code needed to add a “subscribe” widget. Oh, please help??!! I don’t understand the directions I’ve read so far.

I thank everyone for the time you’ve all spent trying to teach me this stuff. I love my website & want to make it the best I can.

Yes – you can add images to your Posts & Pages. See Using_Image_and_File_Attachments.

how do I get the text to wrap around the pictures in each post?

When you insert the images, you will be offered of Alignment choice – Left, Right, Centre or None. Choosing Left or Right will cause the text to automatically wrap around the inserted image.

I am TOTALLY confused as to the code needed to add a “subscribe” widget

Navigate to Appearance -> Widgets and drag the Meta widget into your sidebar.

Ids this the widget that has the “sign in” in it? I may already have that in the footer area of my website. Hey, I might be closer to getting this worked out than I thought. I’m going to go check it out now.

    THANK YOU!!

BTW, what do I do with this “meta widget” when I get it to the sidebar. Code?? Just words like “subscribe”?

Just add it to your sidebar.

OK, got it. I’m techy enough to do that much!! Oh, I HATE feeling this stupid.

Ok, I’ve got the “meta” widget on the sidebar now. What do I do from here. There is “site admin” for me of course. Then there is “log out”, also for me. Then there is “entries RSS” “Comments RSS” and “WordPress Org”. I’m guessing I may need to do something with “Entriess RSS” or Comments RSS”. Am I right and if so what is it I need to do?

Thank you for all your time and effort.

“Entries RSS” & “Comments RSS” are links to your site’s Posts and comments feeds. They’ll work just as they are.
