I inadvertently deleted the home page, thinking I could create a new one. The new home page looks fine in the preview, but when you visit the site, it displays a 404. The menu added a second home link, and it links to the new page. The breadcrumb trail reads: browsing > home > home

    The Permalink:
    http://www.pixeltamers.net/home-2/

But I cannot seem to edit,
Any ideas on how to fix?

  • I don’t know that you can delete the default home-posts page because it doesn’t actually exist as a page. Are you using a static page as home?
Are you using a custom menu? If not try it. It’s the common way to get rid of the phantom home page.

Yes, using static page as home.
When I checked the dashboard again, the home page was not displayed as the setting, so I reset, and it worked.

    Thanks

I just did the same thing because I could not alter my home page except to put words on it, I could not change anything else about it. So I created a new one and deleted it and I get the 404 error. Problem is the new page is my website with the /home-2 and if someone inters my domain they get the 404 not the new home page because it has a new URL.
I want my original url and homepage back but it was functionless, I could not change it, add a picture or anything to dress it up.

    Please post a new topic.

You should try what worked for me, go to your settings and make sure the home page is selected as the default. When the incident occurred, It got thrown out of whack, but resetting worked
