• I installed bbpress and the forums option in BuddyPress 1.5.3.1 and now I just wanted to remove them but I can’t. I was able to deactivate the bbpress plugin and I can click the option to uninstall Group Forums in the BuddyPress area and it looks like it removed it because the button to install it appears.

However, when you close that section and go back the option changes back to the uninstall group forums choice again! It’s still installed and when you go to a user’s profile you see the forums tab. I can hide the forums page but I rather just get rid of it.

Any suggestions? I tried changing the theme but that didn’t help.
    Thanks

    I’m having the same problem.

Also it seems that a major drawback to having “Group Forums” is that you don’t get any backend administration of the groups.

Did you find any solution to this?

    Thanks

Go to your Buddypress Settings/component and unselect
the option >> Discussion Forums and save

And then u can now install your site wide forums

I’m having this same issue as well — cannot “uninstall group forums” inside BP → Forums.

@tosinhtml if I deselect Discussion Forums, it still doesn’t allow me to uninstall group forums. However, this WILL allow an admin to activate and use the bbPress plugin on their site. Not sure about the BP integration.

Finally, I found what appears to be a solution on this page (from who else but @jjj!): http://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/4/

I’ll copy-paste what he said here

I cannot uninstall the Forums for Groups. When i click uninstall group forums, it just re-initiates itself. What step am I missing?

First, back up your database and the bb-config.php file which was generated in root of your WordPress install when you installed Forums for Groups. Delete bb-config.php file from server.

    Thanks @mralexweber,it worked fine.
Am kinda having issues with buddypress skeleton component example trying to create a plugin but buddybar doesnt seem to be appearing in the example template that came with buddypress skeleton component example. Any ideas ??
