• My name has somehow become linked to two of the blogs powered by Word Press. I can’t figure out who owns the blogs, and after sending NUMEROUS comments to Word Press Security and Word Press Support, I have received no feedback. This is extremely distressing.

How do I contact a live human being in order to explain the problem, and to find out how to remove my name from these blogs?

  • wordpress.org has no responsibility for the people that use wordpress or what is done with the product. I actually have no idea what you’re asking as your question was oddly phrased, but there’s nothing we can or will do to help you deal with someone who happens to be using wp

In other words, you need to be contacting the folks who are running the blogs that you have issues with.

The analogy: If your name appears in a MS Word document and you’re not happy about it, you don’t contact Microsoft. You contact the author.

That might explain why Bill Gates hasn’t replied to my emails…for the life of me I couldn’t figure it out πŸ™‚

How can I find out who the author is? There is absolutely no contact information on the blog, except for a bit at the bottom that says the blog is powered by Word Press.

Doesn’t Word Press have a disclaimer on their help site that says they will help people contact the blog authors whom they host? I definately saw this disclaimer, but no one has responded to my repeated requests to put me in touch with the author of this blog.

Who is the person responsible for Word Press? I am seriously going to get an attorney involved in this matter if I can’t get a concise answer for whom I should contact with an invasion of privacy matter.

Theresa, did you read our posts? wp has absolutely nothing to do with this. They have zero responsibility to help you.

    And I quote:

Note before contacting us: Please don’t send us legal takedown orders or threats, we don’t actually host every WordPress blog in the world. If you don’t understand that, you probably shouldn’t be sending legal notices anyway.

Go right ahead, but all you’ll be doing is wasting hundreds of dollars. again, wordpress has NOTHING to do with any of this. It is purely your job to figure everything out. The fact that the person is using wordpress on their site does not in any way make wp responsible for helping you, and I’m better your emails will continue to be ignored.

Your best bet is doing a whois lookup on the domain

You must not have read the posts above this. WordPress is JUST SOFTWARE. WP.org cannot be responsible for what people do with it (please, see the MS Word analogy above).

As you probably know where the blogs in question are hosted, one would presume that you or “your attorney” would check publicly available records to see who’s responsible for THOSE domains and contact THOSE people.

You can always find out who the owner of a domain is by using whois lookup.
Can you, please, provide a link to where exactly did you see the “disclaimer” you are quoting?
Wordpress.org – the very site you are posting now here – does NOT host any blogs.
Maybe you meant wordpress.com? That’s a different entity; please post to their forum:
    http://wordpress.com/forums/
    Thank you for understanding.

I believe you’re right, it’s Word Press.com with whom I would like to speak. Does anyone know if there are real people within that organization whom I can contact?

I notice that Matt Mullenweg is listed on their site, but his cell phone number does not work, and he has not replied to my e-maiol. Do any of you know more direct ways to get in touch with Word Press.com and report a problem.

Two of their blogs are in violation of Word Press’ own terms of agreement, and I would like the owners of these blogs to be aware of the problem.

    Thanks

You gotta be kidding me! Are you so blind with rage your name appears on a blog you can’t see and read the advice offered above?

There is nothing, I repeat nothing, WP.org or WP.com can assist you with.

And BTW hysterical ranting over silly nonsense like this probably led Matt to discontune his cell service at that number.

You might also try to Google your name so your “lawyer” can chase down the hundreds, if not thousnds, of other references to your name on the web.

Please, everybody, let’s not get into calling names and stuff like that.
The OP might have a genuine complain – I gave her the directions where to post about it, no further posting here is necessary.

I’d like to ask everybody not to post in this thread.
We do not deal here with issues raised in the OP, and we do not need to answer anything after the proper directions were given.

Theresa, all the helpers here are volunteers and cannot help you further.

    Theresa:

1 – insulting people gets you nowhere. At all.

2 – wordpress.com problem? Write the most polite email you possibly can to support@ wordpress . com. And I do mean polite.

    Thanks Maven,

I will try that. I’m always very polite to those who are polite to me.

    Best wishes,
