• We’re trying to get gigya to work on our site and would hugely appreciate any help with this!

Unfortunately it appears that the gigya plugin is not compatible with the current WP version and the gigya site is very much written for developers and it’s causing my brain to cramp up 😉

Is it feasible for a non-programmer to get it working within WP without plugin?

Gigya gives all kinds of API and other options, user-side sdk etc, and we just don’t know which direction to take the first step in and what do do 🙁

And does the social login automatically integrate with WP login/account creation?

And maybe someone even knows what steps are needed to integrate the social login with our membership system in WP? (using wordpress member and need social login to create a basic membership level there as well).

Any tips, pointers or…detailed step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated and likely helpful for many other WP user…it seems the only existing posts about gigya integration are very outdated.

    Thank you!!

    Michael

  • Hi Michael,

The Gigya plugin is compatible with the latest WordPress version, so there is no need to try and implement without the plugin. You can use the following step by step guide in order to implement it: http://developers.gigya.com/050_CMS_Modules/030_Wordpress_Plugin

Regarding Social Login – you have to enable it by entering your Gigya API and Secret keys in the corresponding place in the plugin configuration page. After that, the Social Login plugin will automatically integrate with your WP login and account creation. You can find more details about it in the same link above.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you encounter any problems with the installation or with the configuration of the plugin.

    Hi Miri,

thank you for your response and offered help.

I will try out the plugin based on your comment. My assumptions was based on the directory listing (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/gigya-socialize-for-wordpress/), which notes there has not been an update since 3.0, and 2 user say it is broken, while 0 say it works…

In the meantime I did get about half of the gigya plugins works without wp plugin – but not the other half – any idea why that would be? Also seems like only 1-2 work on the same page together – what do we need to do for your plugins to not interfere with each other?

It’s great to hear the integration with wordpress and social login is automatic – does that mean it’s automatic with our WP membership plugin (wishlist member) as well, or what needs to be done for social login to also create an entry level membership with wishlist?

    And…one more question 🙂

We setup a CNAME and implemented it as directed in your dev guide. First logging in with fb worked fine, but now we get the following error message when trying to login with facebook:

    404 Not Found
The server can not find the requested page:

Please forward this error screen to login.thescienceofsuccess.org’s WebMaster.

I checked and all fb app fields seem to be filled out exactly as shown on your screen shots…any idea what the problem is and how to fix it?

Please forgive the many questions and thank you so much for your help 🙂

    Cheers

So I just implemented the plugin and it looks like the exact same tools show/work on our site, so let me list them in them hopes it helps you shed light on the issue.

These show/ work on our site:

    Ratings & reviews
    comments
    login
    add connections
    share bar
    friend selector

    These don’t show:

    share
    reactions
    follow bar

    Didn’t test:

    activity feed

Also in all other regards the issues are the same as described above for implementation without WP plugin.

Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

btw – is the live chat plugin part of the gaming mechanics upgrade, a separate product or should it be available with the general plugins? if so, where? can’t find it…

And…a couple for question for you, Miri 🙂

On testing the social logins, I came across a few issues:

    1. I set the plugin to redirect to a different page on our site after login – but when I login (tested with gmail), the only thing that happens is the gmail button gets a green stroke, no redirect happens. I tried various redirect links (first the regular full url, then variations of the localhost url suggested on the link you provided), all with same result…is this not working, or what am I doing wrong? (our wp is self-hosted)

    2. How exactly does the social login integrate with wp login and account creation? I couldn’t find much on the link you provided – and after logging in with several email addresses, my wp admin did not show any new members or any new accounts created, nor was I asked after gmail login to provide any added info, or get any type of email notification, nothing that suggests any wp account creation happened (I also created a new email with fictional user to make sure no pre-existing wp account caused this)

Hope you can shed light on this 🙂

    Thank you

    And…another update…

This whole things seems to behave extremely erratically, to say the least.

    e.g.

    > It seems every time we update anything on a page where a Gigya plugin is installed, the plugin disappears (even though no related code changed) and we have to take out the code and put it back it to get the gigya plaugin back.

    > When we place more than one gigya plugin on one page, it changes almost with every time loading the page which of them appear and which don’t.

    > sometimes one plugin even appears in the place a different one is inserted (e.g. on our homepage we have a video – to the right of it we placed the gigya login and below it the share bar – now the share bar consistently appears next to the video. (and we’ve not been able to get both to appear at the same time. ever.).

We really love your user interface and functions, but really need some help here soon, or we’ll have no choice than going back to janrain…left a couple voice mails with you over a week ago also, but never heard anything back.

I understand that there’s no major support offered until the $20k+ are paid, but if we can’t get this to work to begin with, paying you that kind of money is certainly not an option.

If you’d like to win our business, now’s a good time to do something for it…

Please respond here so others may benefit from the information as well.

    Thank you

    Michael
PS: Workked out the facebook login, was an issue on our end…
