Hello, my site was impacted when Dreamhost was hacked last week. It turned out that the file under mydomain.org/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wpdialogs/js/htaccess.php was modified. I removed tinymce and everything under it. I realized, now in retrospect, that I should have just removed the .htaccess file.

The visual and html editor in my WordPress installation is missing. I downloaded a new copy of TinyMCE 3.4.7 from http://www.tinymce.com/ and copied the only the tiny_mce (under jscripts) to the wp-includes/js directiory. But, this did not work. Then I realized the plugin “wpdialogs” wasn’t in the package so I copied it from another WP installation I had. After clearing the cache and restarting the browser, the editor is still not showing up. I need advice on what else I need to do.

    I will appreciate any advice.
    Thanks,
    Amy

  • I think you need to go to Admin->Updates and re-install WP with the ‘Re-install Now’ button.

Thanks. I planned to do this, then realized that the reason the “tiny_mce” directory that I replaced was not being recognized by the scripts because of the “_” in the name. I tried again with “tinymce,” copied from the other installation (can’t remember how that underscore character got in there in the first place) and this time, it worked. The visual and html editors are now back.

    phew….
