• I’m a newbie. Over time (approx. 3 months) my website blogs (www.everythingforshooting.com) has been getting comments to the tune of a hundred a day or more. Is this good?? I mean I signed up for a couple of those SEO sites to get more traffic and I was wondering if that is what it is. Any info would be appreciated. capt john

    AKA,

Greetings. One of my clients had something like 30,000 comments in a short time. He was a victim of a SPAM Attack. My recommendations are the following:

    – First turn-off comments UNLESS your site depends on open discussion for revenue

    – Use the Askimet Plugin

    – Go to your settings and delete the PING-BACK feature

    – Google search ‘delete comment worpdress plugin’ and install it.

Comments are FOOLISHNESS! 99% of the time in the 7 years I’ve used WordPress, these clowns ad no value and only cause headaches like you are now having.

To replace the PINGBACK feature, install an XML sitemap Plugin.
