My blog kendratoo.com is currently using a WordPress.com theme. Within the past week I’ve mapped my domain and purchased webhosting for WordPress via GoDaddy so I could begin using WordPress.org. GoDaddy had a quick install for WordPress that appears to be installed correctly.

The problem is that I cannot locate any of the themes I’ve installed. I initially tried using the GoDaddy ftp but switched to FileZilla earlier this evening. The themes are uploading (from what I can tell) but when I go to: Dashboard/Appearance/Themes, I cannot locate any of the new themes. The two I’ve tried are: Pink Orchid theme and Presswork.

    What am I doing wrong?

When I type in kendratoo.com/wp-admin/themes.php to get to my dashboard, it automatically redirects it to: kendratoo.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php . Does that have something to do with my inability to use themes? Do I need to purchase the CSS upgrade?

  • Check the settings in Admin->Settings->General to be sure your URLs are pointing to your new install.

I figured it out earlier after someone responded to another question I had. Turns out I was still using the wp.com dashboard because I didn’t install the wp.org dashboard yet. Doh!

It works now and I’m happily trying out 3 million themes. Thanks!
