• I was wondering if it was ok to list a lot of posts on a page.

On one of my current sites I’ve got a page which lists a lot of toys say 100 maybe 200+ but ideally I’d like to make each one a post in a separate wordpress install so I can categorise them better. But I’d still like to list as many as I can on a page so readers can see them all.

If I’m only displaying the title, a picture and maybe a category next to each post how many could I display before the performance of the page would slow, would it have a big effect on memory etc? Enough to worry about?

NO! This is a search engine optimization DISASTER!!!!!

Remember – It is best to give a website visitor ONLY what they’ve searched for and let them make the decision on whether to go deeper into your site (side bar links for archives etc)

Now, IF you have a library of some kind (video tutorials or books) I’d say something slightly different

I understand what you are saying but it would be what they have searched for.

Users would select the area they want on the homepage (toys DVDs) then they’d filter by series, character or story. But I want to show all the posts on the filtered pages as that’s the view they’d want.

These are the lists I’ve got

This is how I want them displayed. At the moment I can only filter in page by class tags at the top with jquery
