[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] sitemaps and redirects

    I’m trying o use Yoast’s great SEO plugin to do my sitemap.
    I also get a 404.

    If I disable and reenable sitemaps, it doesn’t help and it has the added effect of writing over my .htaccess file. This removes all the custom redirects I have making sure that my old links map to new ones.

    1. Why doesn’t the site map work?
    2. what is the right way to do redirects so the don’t get overwritten?
