Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
– re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Ok, i will try that but that was a very very helpful suggestion.
I never thought of deactivating my plugins if you had not mentioned it here.
Please how can i also switch back to the previous version of wordpress(they are movable in this version) incase your suggestions didn’t work?
Also clear your browser(s) cache(s) and update all of them as a known jquery issue related very specifically to drag and drop jquery items in the browser was recently patched.
