• My last upgrade to 3.3 was interupted and i am now unable to get onto my dashboard.

    This message appears

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_update_data() in /home/justfas2/public_html/main/wp-admin/menu.php on line 34

I am not a developer and unfortunately the developers who did my website are unable to help.

I would really appreciate some assistance with this.

  • You will probably need to finish the upgrade manually, as it was interrupted, and has lead to either a corrupt file, or something critical is now missing. Do you have FTP access to the files on your server? If yes, you can download a new copy of WordPress 3.3

Once you have that, unzip it, and copy all of the files except the wp-content folder to you site, overwriting the files that exist there currently.

Once you’ve done that, go to yoursite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php in your browser (being sure to replace your URL for the sample one above) and re-running the upgrade.

Hi, thanks for you advice. I have tried this but it doesn’t seem to work? There is a good chance i’m not doing it right since I don’t have a clue!

My developers won’t help and im a at a bit of a loss with it all..any other suggestions?

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade via wp-admin/upgrade.php

If you feel like rolling up your sleeves, Esmi’s advices is exactly what I would give; that is the troubleshooting procedure for this issue.

If any of this is over your head, try to find another business in your area who does WordPress sites. We have a fair amount of requests from people just like you, who need help and are without their original dev, and I can teel you that anyone who builds WP sites for clients could help with this issue.

    Cheers,

Thank you both for your advice, i’ll give it a try but I may have to contact someone to sort it out.. The guys who set this up have just can’t be bothered to help me which is frustrating!

Sadly it’s something I hear a lot of… luckily, there are a lot of shops that now build client sites on WordPress, so I’m sure you’ll find someone in your area who can help.
