Does Shibboleth plug-in work if Shibboleth resides on a different server?

    No. The Shibboleth Service Provider and WordPress have to reside on the same system/server. The Shibboleth SP passes user information to WordPress. The Shibboleth SP cannot pass the information remotely (to another server).
