• I’m trying to create a new category, e.g. “example”, but when I do, WordPress creates it as “example-2” in the URL. I tried deleting and creating numerous times, and there is no other category by the same name.

Maybe there was once a category with the same name, but since it’s been deleted, why does WP still need to add “-2”?

  • I just created and deleted a Category with the same name three times and never experienced this problem.

Only guess is that a Post still exists with the deleted category specified.

I get this error: “The slug “example” is already in use by another term.

I’ve checked and double checked the few posts, the term “example” doesn’t appear anywhere.
