How to get posts from category and its children

    Hi all,
    please help. I’m sitting here a half day and I can’t figure it out. maybe it’s high time for break.
    I have categories:

    category-parent
    category-child-1
    category-child-2

    I want to make a menu of some random posts from a category. I know how to get posts from the current category-child, but I don’t know how to get posts when category-parent is displayed.

    I’ll be grateful for helping me.
