• I am ready to launch my first WordPress site (http://ultimatebasictraining.com/admin/) . I’m very excited, but there are a couple miscellaneous things I can’t seem to get to work

    1) I would like to allow comments, but only on some pages. I can see the checkbox to allow comments on a page, but when checked, I don’t see any comment box appear for some reason

    2) I can’t seem to get my footers to work. In the sidebar option in my panel, I click the footers section and it states “widget”. All I have is some text I want to put in, I am not sure where this “widget” is located or what to do with it.

Sorry if these questions are very basic, I’m new!

  • 1) Ability to comment has to be written into your theme. You should see something like <?php comments_template(); ?> in page.php and single.php

    2) That depends on your theme. Some themes have a widget area in the footer. If so, you can drag a text widget there and put whatever text into it you want. You can see widget areas under Appearance > Widgets.
