Confused about wordpress.com domain mapping to own host

    I have been looking for an hour trying to find this information and either I’m being dumb or I’m just not finding it.

    I have a blog at wordpress.com. I have just bought my own domain and hosting and was able to transfer it over to my new host, but I am unable to figure out how to get my wordpress.com blog become fully on my new domain. (i.e. if i went to apocalypticthoughts.wordpress.com that it would go to apocalypticthoughts.com)

    Is this something I need to bring up with my host or is this something simple that I’m just being a noob and not understanding properly? (mind you, it’s been about 10 years since I ran my own full website so i’m technically a little behind the times)

    (side note: I did go through wordpress.com’s information and it routed me over here to wordpress.org since i have my own hosting, etc)
