I’m having the same problem, only I don’t have a new installation of wordpress — my hosting service just switched everything to a new server (and in the process, lost a lot of my commments, too, but that’s another story) and I was wondering if it was a residual effect of that, but then I read this and wondered if it’s a WP bug. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.. cause I am still not getting email notification.. and I do have it checked off under options.

Is the email address from the same domain where WP is hosted? Some hosts will not send any email through sendmail if the address is from another domain.

I now have it working and am receiving email notifications. Moshu was correct. I am now using an email address from the same domain where WP is hosted. The one I had first tried to use was my outlook express email address. This did not work. Now I am using one from my domain.. and it is working fine. Thankyou very much Moshu. I really appreciate your advice.
