[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] – permalink conflict with custom post type "album"

I am doing a site for a musician and have a custom post type called “album”. Unfortunately this is causing a conflict with Nextgen (using 1.9.1). When I go to an page with an Album, it displays the galleries, but when I click on one of them I get a 404 error. If I change my post type to “albums” it fixes the problem, but at this point it would be a hassle to change as the site is already live so it would mess up permalinks and I’d have to update a lot of code.

This happens both with Nextgen permalinks turned on (using nggallery as slug) and off.

Any idea how to fix?
