• I am an amateur at this and here is my problem, hope im not doing something obviously dumb as a mistake of my own:
I open up my wordpress dashboard, go the the left side and click on all pages, then open up the edit option of the relevant page. Under the html tab there is an option to add a link, a little botton that says “link” clicking on the button, I add the url of my link and type in a title below, close this and update the page. When I try to see the result on the site itself, either nothing appears or just some html text:

here is what appears in my html tab under edit page after Ive done the add link and title thing:

on the website itself, nothing at all appears.

Anyone have an idea of whats going wrong here? A quick tip or two would be greatly appreciated.

code that appears on the html box appear in the post above, here it is below
    <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_speech_recognition_software" title="List of speech software" target="_blank"></a>

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Hello Esmi, thanks for the advice. I tried what you said and still no luck. I shut down all the plugins and changed the theme to twenty 11 as well as a couple of others. This is really getting annoying, such a simple thing. Have you any other suggestion?

    Hello
Hoping to get some advice as I have a similar problem apart from the fact that I can get working links when I use the visual tab but not when I use the html tab. I learnt the hard way that it’s not advisable to swaitch from one to the other and as I want to include links to my own pages into existing pages – I dont want to mess them up.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    kind regards
