    Hi,
    Site: http://www.os42.com
I am not sure why, but for some reason the frontpage is loading very slowly all of a sudden. Most of the page loads except for the statistics which sits under 'Blurry'. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mmm...thanks Beel. I just disabled any plugins I am not using. Does this make a difference?

Loaded in 4.3 seconds for me, which is fairly quick for this line.

Anytime you don't load something it will improve speed, but how much depends on what the particular plugin was doing. One of my plugins gets weather data off another site, obviously disabling that would affect load time more substantially than, say, the negligible "Hello Dolly" plugin.

Umm - what I se, what makes a big difference is gzip compression for pages. Without gzip compression a page loads immediately - and with it I have to wait about 20 seconds (on a 15 posts frontpage)...

Well actually that is not quite correct - but there is difference: Without gzip the page starts loading immediately and displays as soon as there is something to display. With gzip it takes about 5-10 seconds more and will only display if the page is fully loaded.
http://blog.pirotesse.de - I disabled gzip for now. :) Browsing feels a lot better that way.

Also, slowness may be mean that your host has you on an older machine or that the server you are on is overloaded with too many people. Almost nothing in WP should take over a second to generate on a modern host.
