How do i add an H1 tag to my homepage?
where? for the site title? for the post titles? some new text?

you might find the code for the site title in header.php of your theme.
The question was how to add the H1 tags to the Title tag for only the homepage. All posts and pages should pick up the H! tag for the post and page titles.
I myself am using WordPress SEO by Yoast and can’t get the H1 tags for the homepage. The header.php has the standard <title><?php wp_title(”); ?></title> and I’m trying to see if the pluggin forum has any help on this but without success so far.
Do I need to add code to differentiate the home page?

If you go to settings in your dashboard or administration area.
Under settings it will say general in general it will tagline this H1 tag.
Hi dedah, sorry but this does not give an <H1> tag for the homepage title.
What theme are you using? H1 tags are generally coded into all pages as part of the header and sometimes as headers of other sections on the page.
I would appreciate an example as I’ve just checked a few of my sites and this is not the case. The title in the header has nothing to do with the H1 tags throughout the site.
Please can you show an example as this maybe what I’m looking for.
