Saved post not showing in preview pane (12 posts)

I had posted this as a reply on a similar topic, but that topic was resolved so I'm reposting in a new thread. Unfortunately, their solution didn't work for me.

My saved but unpublished posts do not show in my preview pane. I'm seeing my blog template as it should look, but instead of my saved post, it says, "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria." Once it is published, I can see it when modifying the post.

I reinstalled WP twice, no change. Everything else works fine.

Just so you know, I don't know much of anything about php. The other solution was changing the single.php file, but my template doesn't have that file. So I took the single.php file from the default theme, copied into mine, uploaded it, but that only made it worse.

I don't use categories in this blog - everything goes into General.

    Any ideas/suggestions? :)

    Thanks much!

I'm having the same problem. I've searched through the forum and can't find a consistent answer, other than to blame plugins which I do not have installed. I think something is messing up with permalinks, as some mentioned changing the URL from example.com to w w w . example.com but that isn't working for me either.

Sorry for the w w w but it seems new spam detection stuff or filters are killing off URLs even in backticks. ugh.

    Any other ideas?

I don't know if this helps, but not only will the post preview report a 404 page not found error, but I get a 404 page not found error when trying to manually preview the post as a full web page, not from within the Write Post panel. Even if the post is saved, but not published.

If published, I see it on my blog but still get a 404 error result in the post preview section when editing the post.

My subdomain stopped working so I switched both the WordPress URL and Blog URL to the root, no subdomain, and now I can see the post previews.

Could someone give us some very specific advice on how to set up the two URL requests in the Options when using a subdomain. Maybe we're putting the wrong URL in the wrong place. Which should be which?

And should anything be done to "force" the page to display when using a subdomain in the .htaccess or permalink structure?

    Thanks.

I'm posting again on this topic. We are a nonprofit working to fight global poverty via microfinance. We started our blog (http://blog.unitus.com) ~6 months ago, and generally love WordPress, but this Post-Preview bug is really frustrating.

I've now disabled/removed all plugins, and we still can't preview posts when we do a 'Save and Continue Editing'. It just says "No Posts Match Your Criteria".

I've read through all of the related threads on this board... I'd appreciate some help, if anyone has any ideas.

    Thank you,

    David

    Same problem.

    I have 3 WP blogs.

The two I started from scratch with WP 2.x are OK.

But the one I upgraded from 1.5x to 2.x does not let me preview.

No work around I could find aside from publishing, editing, then changing the post timestamp.

Until we solve this glitch, I turned on OPTIONS > WRITING > Users should use the visual rich editor by default.

This way I can see my graphics — though the visual rich editor causes other problems.

I have the same problem, also having upgraded from 1.5x to 2.x.

Here's a little more information that may help in solving the no publish-no preview problem. I think it is server related, because I have two blogs; one on a textdrive server, and one on a local provider's server. Both Apache servers.

Both are running WP 2.1, upgraded twice from 1.5, so the upgrade must not be the problem.

On the local server I can preview an un-published post. On the textdrive server I cannot. (By the way, I am going to ask on their wordpress forum.)

It seems to be independent of the theme used. The default theme has the same behavior.

It'll probably take an Apache maven to get to the bottom of this.

I ran into this problem as well. It appears to occur when you change your permalink structure from the default.

I believe that it's a bug in WordPress, and I have posted a fix for the problem: http://www.symbolcraft.com/blog/fix_wordpress_post_preview/8/

    Same problem.

All my blogs are on the same server only two are affected.

Tried rich editor off r.e. on no difference.

    Have default perma links.

    All blogs are on subdomain.

Plugins are pretty much the same on all the blogs, the ones affected probably having fewer plugins.
