  • Help me developers!

I cant backup my site! me tried BackUpWordPress for backuping but it showing “BackUpWordPress has detected a problem. wp-cron.php is returning a 404 response which could mean cron jobs aren’t getting fired properly. BackUpWordPress relies on wp-cron to run back ups in a separate process”

Me contacted the plugin developer he said its my site problem! please help me!

  • Hi neojit!

The error message you’re getting is stating that you’re getting a 404 error, which is a 404 file not found. It sounds like the wp-cron.php file may not exist.

What happens if you visit http://YourDomain.com/wp-cron.php ? Be sure to replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.

Nope! i can saw my wp-cron.php in my filemanager

Most likely if you see the wp-cron.php in your file manager, then it shouldn’t be returning a 404.

What actually happens when you don’t use your file manager however? For example, what if you access the script directly as in http://yourdomain.com/wp-cron.php ?

1, If i install a new wordpress to new server and replace this existing backup all issue will gone or not?

    Honestly, I can’t say.

If you’re getting a 404 error when accessing your wp-cron.php, BEFORE you do a lot of working transferring your WordPress site, try the following:
    1. Download WordPress to your desktop.
    2. Unzip it
    3. Copy the wp-cron.php file from your desktop to your current WordPress site online

Basically, if you’re missing a file, replace it with a new one. I also find it very strange that you can see wp-cron.php in your file manager but cannot access it in a browser. You may want to contact your web host for further assistance. As they have direct access to your files, they should be able to do some quick troubleshooting to find out why it is returning a 404.
