• Hi Matt,

    I am using Absolute Privacy to lockdown a private blog to registered users only and then sending these users a weekly digest. I have installed Wp-Crontrol and for the first week, everything worked great. The digest went out with a list of the posts with links and links to the site. Then all of a sudden with no additional plugins or changes, the digest that went out that has a weird link that has nothing to do with the post – i.e. –

    It added an additional link to signup genius instead of the link to the post.

    Then the 3rd week, the digest went out with blanks.

    This is a sample 2nd week digest email.

    I really don’t want to go back to feed burner, but my client is going crazy with these nonsense/non-working digests. Do you have any idea what is going on?

    Thanks

  • @vashinue,

    If I follow through to the SignUpGenius link is is created by the school.

    Has this link been added to posts manually or via a plugin? It is being appended to all permalinks somehow.

    Try checking the permalink structure – go to Settings->Permalinks and check your setting there. If it looks okay revert to default and then re-apply your preferred setting.

    Then try sending a preview email and see what you get.

    Matt, The permalinks look ok – Should it be on default? When I had it on another setting, it was really messed up.

    Also, does the preview only go to the admin> can I change who it goes to?

    Thanks

    The 3rd email sent had all the values as blank.

    @vashinue,

    Permalinks can be whatever you like – doesn’t have to be default. But there have been times when the more custom structures can get a little stewed up and resetting to default and back again tends to fix this sort of issue.

    Is you are logged in when you send the Preview email it will come to the address as listed in Users->Your Profile, not the administrators address.

    ok, I “reset the permalinks and I am still getting the following –

    BLOGNAME has posted a new item, ‘TITLE’

    POST

    I also clicked the return to default and it still looks exactly the same.

    @vashinue,

    All the keywords in your copied template file above need wrapped in curly brackets {}. So POST should be {POST}. Make those changes and see if that helps.

    I tried that – but when I update, they go away.

    @vashinue,

    I’m not sure I understand what you mean when you say “when I update, they go away”. Do you mean when you have updated the plugin? Or when you click “Submit” at the bottom of the Settings->Subscribe2 window?

    Are you using version 6.5 of Subscribe2? Is it the free or HTML version?

    I think your best option now is to use FTP software to erase the files on the server (DO NOT uninstall from the Plugins window in the admin area or you’ll loose all your subscriber details). Then upload all of the subscribe2 folder and files from a fresh copy of the zip file.

    So, I updated wordpress and now it works. Weird. Hopefully, it won’t happen again.

    Thanks
