    Hi,

For you who have been using W3TC for a while, according to your experience and expertise, which would be the best configuration for this environment?

    Type: VPS
    Processors: 4
    Memory: 512MB
    Disk: 15GB
    OS: Linux
    OpCode: XCache
Running WP MultiSite 3.2.1 (many sites, some with very few hits, some with regular/medium numbers)

PHP Variables (may be changed if necessary)
    PHP memory_limit: 96M

XCache Variables (don’t know which values should use here)
    xcache.size: ?
    xcache.count: ?
    xcache.slots: ?
    xcache.var_size: ?
    xcache.var_count: ?
    xcache.var_slots: ?

    Current W3TC Options
    Page: Disk (enhanced)
    Minify: Disk
    Database: OpCode (XCache)
    Object: OpCode (XCache)
    Browser: On
    CDN: Off

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

    Ricardo

  • The default settings for xcache are usually fine. I use xcache for pages, minify ect. I see you are using disk still for certain things. Enable xcache for all of them for best results.

Depending on your OS, CentOS, Ubuntu ect, check around to see what packages you don’t need and un-install them and turn off services that you don’t need.

If you want to takes things a bit further to tweak more speed, Take some time to read about Squid Cache, I use this as well. Varish has a high overhead when running on small accounts so I would look into Squid if you need more speed.

Check out some articles @ http://www.lowendbox.com too. Some articles are not easy to find but there are scripts and articles for maxing out installs of tiny vps solutions. Check out this article, Running WordPress on a 64MB VPS.

    Hope this helps,

    Chris,

I ended up using a different approach to the whole thing (each site in its own account/WP instead of only one WPMS installation), so my question doesn’t apply literally any more. Anyway, those articles provided quite valuable information. Thanks for helping 🙂
