   My site looks fine in firefox/safari, but when I try with Internet Explorer, the banner is replaced with a blue box, while the footer is replaced with a black box.

   The reasons may vary.
   Could we have a link to your blog, please, so we can have a look at the problem.

   Usually the reason for such problems are found in the stylesheet and depend on the different way in which FF and MSIE interprets the CSS box model.
