Is there a way to insert my ads right after my visitors click 'read the rest of the entry'? I want to ads to be the first thing that they see. I realize that I can manually insert the ads when I post, but I want an easier way - preferably in templates.

I suppose, when you let the visitor "read more" he/she is taken to a single page, with just that post and a comments area.
If your theme uses a special template file for single posts, you should be able to insert the ad in that single page template, just above the logic used to present the post content. However, this might not be a special ad, relevant to that special post.
