  • I would also need the option to affect which image options are used. On a text-only blog Facebook retrieves the AddThis social sharing button as the featured og:image. The button is in the end of all posts.

This happens whether this plugin’s image feature is enabled or not. What I’d like is to either be able to tell Facebook not to use any image on that blog, or to force a default (empty) image file to be used instead of the button image found at the end of the posts. Both of these could be achieved if it was possible to enable the og:image and then choose which of these four methods are used:

    • From post/page featured/thumbnail image
    • or if it doesn’t exists from the first image in the post content
    • or if it doesn’t exists from the first image on the post media gallery
    • or if it doesn’t exists from the default image defined on the options menu.

I’d simply enable only the last one and try defining an empty URL so the plugin would generate <meta property="og:image" content="">. If Facebook would still insist on finding an image from the page, I’d upload a 1x1blank.gif on my server and set it as the og:image.

In short: add checkboxes for all the four of the above, and when the default image checkbox is checked, use its value even if it’s null.

    I’ll take a look at this 😉

Please check the last version 0.1.9.5
It’s now possible to activate/de-activate each post/page image option as you wish.

Anyway I do not show a empty og:image tag because Facebook will simply ignore it and use the first image of the page (example: a social icon) as he wish.

A high rating on the plugin is welcome 😉
And there’s always the donate button 😉

Upgraded to 0.2.1. Works like a charm. Now the only thing missing is having a default image on my site to force upon Facebook instead of grabbing that AddThis one.

Thanks for the additions. I’ve rated the plugin. Always do for those that I’ve tried to support the community 🙂

I am trying to use this plugin for sharing the individual images of the default wordpress gallery. How do I do that?
