I have a very large post which I'd like to stick up, which I believe is going beyond the maximum size of the field in the database, (65,000 something characters right?) Well, I still have another 25,000 characters to mush in there, and I'd prefer not to split the post over two posts, if possible. Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks!

    That's a book ! :)
Could you create a static page to hold it ? And just paste the words in like that ?

If you have phpMyAdmin you can simply change the post_content field from TEXT to BIGTEXT.

Hehe, better believe it podz, more like an essay tho. ;-) allusion, I was thinking about that, would it cause resource problems at all?

hmmm, am looking at the options, and do not see BIGTEXT, but I do see LONGTEXT. Since I'm such a newless cluebie, I researched TEXT and its variations to see what was what. This Column Type Storage Requirements page in mySQL manual spells out various sizes.

LONGTEXT is what you want. Sorry, the BIG was just a typo.

As it i said in the posts above it is NOT in the template, it's in the MySQL database! You obviously have a database since your WP is running :)
Hopefully your host also offers Myphpadmin - which is a tool (interface) to work with your database.

I apologize for my ignorance in these matters and readily admit it. I am like new swimmer in way over his head. I teach international relations not math or programing and I have painfully little experience in any of this. I have been an enduser for wordprocessing, publishing and databases for years, but a true end user, occassionally dabbling successfully in the some of the deeper tweaks that an end user needs. i am doing that now, trying to learn as much as I can as fast as I can.
I have no idea what Myphapadmin is or how to access it to change the lines of code I need to affect. Could you be more detailed in the steps I need to take?
    Thanks, Ernest.
