• I installed my first version of WordPress onto my PC in Wampserver so that I was able to learn how to use WordPress. After a couple of days of playing around with WordPress and finding I liked it. I decided to install a fresh version on my PC so that I was starting with a new build, I deleted the first version, then installed 2nd one, i was then asked for the MYSQL details so that it would all go ok. I cannot get past the create a configuration file. I have entered all the details correctly so I thought, (obviously not right) so I’m now stuck. Someone’s advice on where I go from here would be much appreciated. My OS is Windows 7. I’m running version 2.2 of Wampserver.

  • Unless you have a great deal of content in the old db (would be unusual for a local test install) just create a new db as you did before.

    Thank you for the reply.
I have created a new DB in PHP my admin, that is when i get asked for the MYSQL username and password that is where it all falls apart at the seams..

Locate the file wp-config-sample.php in the base directory of your WordPress directory and open in a text editor.

The MySQL db information needs to be added to the created wp-config.php.

Once you upload your site, these values will be different, therefor re-edit with the values from your web host.

You can export and then import your localhost db version to your webhost db.

    Many thanks for replying again.

I have tried this, but i apparently still need to know the MYSQL username and password, which is what is holding it up. So do you have any idea of how i can find or replace the MYSQL password and username? or alternativly tell me how to delete and then replace the MYSQL database would need to make sure that it had lost the usrname and password. Thank you

It will be necessary to work with your web host and fully understand the requirements noted in the links provided.
