problems with images after site move and search and replace

I have moved my site to a different directory and am having trouble with the images (to solve this for now i have left a copy of the wp-content uploads folder in the old directory)

I moved the site from jonathanspencer.net/blog/ordinarywisdom to jonathan spencer.net/ordinarywisdom and did a search and replace on files using two different plugins. I have regenerated thumbnails

However I am still left with these problems.

Links to images from thumbnails still go back to the old directory

I cannot upload images as although they say they are uploading the image does not appear

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what i have done wrong or what I need to alter to get things working
