Gravatar question

I just installed the latest version of wordpress and installed the gravatar option. Now i wanna know how to select an avatar per e-mail adress or use an avatar from some other website (when i put a link there it doesnt seem to work) I want to use different gravatars every now and then.. but i dont want to let the people who comment use them 😉 can anyone help?
