Losing customisation if updating to Mantra Theme 1.5.7

    Hello,
    I have Mantra Theme 5.1.6 and see that there is an update to 5.1.7. Not sure if to update or not. Apparently I will lose any customisation. I have only just got my head around 5.1.6 and have my site running the way that I want it to – more or less. Still needing to make some changes.

    Is anyone able to tell me what kind of changes will be lost by upgrading please?

    you will lose all mods
    make a child theme and you don’t have to worry about losing mods

    Thank you Samuel B. Does that mean that all simple changes like text colour header size and things like that? Or, bigger things like html programming stuff, which I can’t do anyhow?

    I have never made a child theme, but will check out the instructions. I am not very technical at all.
