looking to create a community-based review site….

Hi, newbie here!

I’ve just started using wp to create my own blog. I’m finding it a useful way of developing my skills and its a great way of exploring all the options, plugins etc.. that are available. However, I have a secondary website requirement and, having looked at a great deal of the available resources and information, I’m not sure if wp is the right tool – i’m hoping that someone can help me or point me in the right direction.

The other website that i would like to create is, for want of a better term, a community-based review site (in concept, similar to a hotel review site!) and would require the following:

– allow registered users to post reviews (a reg’d user can post one or more reviews so would need to have their own post administration page, if possible)

– allow registered and non registered users to search reviews by specific criteria/fields and have the results displayed in a list and map format. (registered users should also be able to save searches based on specific criteria and receive regular notification emails based on the searches)

additional info:
it’s possible that there could be upwards of 1000 registered users; there is no payment function required and there wouldn’t be a need for a rating system.

So, given the above information, would it be possible to create such a review site using wp? If so, what plugin(s), themes or other would you recommend?
