Hi
I am a heavy user of wordpress. But now wanted something more like a CMS...
Three basic features...
Blog, Guest Book and a Discussion forum
Nice URLs and Single Click Installation for all three. Any suggestions?

Community Server may just be the thing for you.
umm something using php and mysql?
I dunno too much about a Guest Book, but wouldn't that just be a WordPress "Page" with comments turned on? I made a guestbook on my site and that's all it is. Seems to work just like any other guest book, no special features, just posts the newest comment next-in-line going down the page.

That should work nicely. As far as the forum goes, there's an excellent pluging called XDForum.
yep or you might want to use bbpress for the forum. the rest can be done with wordpress. I switched to wordpress from other CMSes because of the large number of available plugins.
If you really want something very cmsy, you can also try mambo
http://www.mamboserver.com
I prefer Joomla over Mambo, even though it's basically the same.. =D
If I remember right..most of the original devs of Mambo, moved else where and started up Joomla, I "think" that is the story behind that, not positive though.. =/

I have heard more good rummers about drupal.
Although more hard to install, the comunnity should be stronger.
But those are just rummers - I will know for my self in the next month probably...
XDForum is pretty darn cool. :)
IMO it's all possible within WP with a few plugins and customized theme...

I tend to agree. Joomla and Mambo use tables (I think) and Drupal... hmmm... either you take to it or you don't. I didn't.
pemt - hehe... I didn't take to it either... that's why I am in the process of making a tableless template for my joomla install.... it's not all that difficult.

joomla is the new version of mambo... its highly configurable.
there is a really good dev community aswell..
intergrating wp and joomla has been a goal for a few people for a while.yet there are some built in blog programs such as mamblog
I started using drupal, but decided to go with joomla. Steaper learning curve, but you can do more with it. The more I played with the CMS pakages, the more I apreciate all the great work put into WordPress.

Yeah, I have to agree fully on that. I'm not sure why really, but for some reason, when I had tried the Mambo setup, it wasn't user friendly...and it seemed ALOT harder to get the hang of.
But when I tried Joomla...I was like HELL YEAH! So much easier, and got the hang of it alot quicker. I just basically stopped using Joomla though, because it was too much to upload to the FTP directory lmao! Well, also because of bandwidth issues and I just figured, why use all that much of a package, when I can easily do all that with WordPress LoL!
Anyway, glad to hear ya found something Scott. =)

you might want to look at http://www.pmachine.com ... and take a trial of the Expression Engine ... just worked with a developer to produce an advanced CMS for our churches website ... http://www.fbckm.com
i give it great reviews ... and very flexible !!!
If you really want a nifty cms, try modX.
I used Drupal for about a year (and I've been using WordPress for longer than that) and I'm now in the (slow) process of switching a dozen sites from Drupal to WordPress. I agree that the best software is "the one you know best" and although I put quite a bit of time into Drupal, it was just wasn't friendly (easy) enough for my clients--who are eventually going to be using it. I know Drupal can do some very powerful stuff, I just know and can work better with WordPress.
Please post your findings back here.

Bridged very nicely with WordPress, either one could be used as the main site, and it has everything you're asking for and more. ;)
Personally I like Xoops. It's a very good CMS and has a full featured Wordpress plugin for it. It's a simple to learn CMS and support is good.

Drupal (http://drupal.org/) is an excellent community CMS. It is used by Rachel and Regan Cunliffe for http://www.Idolblog.com.
