    I have the plugin “Open external links in a new window” installed. I have the latest version of both the plugin and of WordPress.
    It is a photoblog, and I have been setting all text links to open in a new window using the built in WP tools, but I haven’t been doing so for the images. So I installed the plugin, and in my personal limited testing, it has only worked in a Chrome browser on a Mac. It does not work on Firefox, Camino or Safari on a Mac, and it also does not work on Explorer, Firefox or Chrome on a Windows 7 machine.

    If you click on the image in any of those posts it takes you to a SmugMug page with the appropriate image and I would like it to do so in a new tab or window. Since I installed the plugin, it does on the Chrome browser on the Mac, but not in any of the other browser/OS combinations mentioned above. If I deactivate the plugin it stops opening a new tab on the Chrom/Mac combination, so I am pretty certain that the plugin is properly installed and there is not some other reason why the Mac/Chrome browser opens the link in a new tab. I have only tested this on the two machines I have access to so I have no idea if you can recreate my results.

    Hi

    Google Analytics interferes with the plugin, so it doesn’t work. I haven’t figured out a solution yet.

    Anyways, give http://www.zappelfillip.de/2005-12-05/zap_newwindow/ a shot.
    My script is actually based on this script – the difference is that my script produces valid XHTML-code, while Zap_NewWindow doesn’t. But on the other hand, Zap_NewWindow doesn’t break when using Google Analytics 🙂

    Thanks for the response Kristian, I appreciate your time.
    I ended up trying “External Links To New Window” since the Zap_NewWindow doesn’t appear to be on the wordpress.org site, and the page it is on seems a bit old. In any event the one I tried works for now and can be found here for anybody else who comes looking for this topic:

    Hi again,

    I just released version 1.3 of the plugin, which lets you ignore certain URL’s (i.e. external image hosts).
    I hope you can use it.
