Simple Facebook Connect – Recent Activity

    Otto,

    SFC is a great, powerful tool!

    But I might be missing something because I can’t get it to do what I’m looking for – or perhaps it’s not designed to do it…

    I’d like all the Facebook fan page status entries (and, I hope, comments) to show up on the sidebar of the blog. First and foremost, this should include status entries by the FB page administrators; fan comments would be welcome, of course.

    I set up the Recent Activity widget which, I hoped, would do that, and it’s been indicating “No recent activity to display.” there were plenty of status updates on the FB page.

    The FB fan page ID was properly entered in the SFC settings (and not rejected). The FB fan page itself works just fine…

    Am I missing something? (Like something obvious: the plugin doesn’t do FB-to-WP status updates?) I surely hope it does, and I’m hoping you can point me in the right direction…

    If SFC doesn’t do what I’m looking for, and you can recommend another tool, I’d really appreciate it.

    Recent Activity is broken at the moment due to changes on Facebook’s side. We’re waiting for their bugfix.

    Just so I understand it: once Facebook’s bugfix materializes, the widget will do what I’m looking for? Thanks!

    Thanks. But I spelled out what I was trying to do in my first inquiry, above:

    It is not entirely clear from the Activity Feed description that it does this.

    I understand that the Facebook side needs fixing, but it would be helpful to know whether I’m waiting for something that’s going to actually help me or not.

    If this plugin doesn’t do what I’m looking for, can you recommend another that does?

    SFC doesn’t do that. I don’t know one that does.

    Sounds like you are looking for a plugin to display the “Stream” or “Status feed”; this is (optionally) included in the Facebook Like Box:

    If so, I’m working on the same thing. I’ve tried the Like Box, but I’ve been fighting the wide horizontal margins of the Like Box: the content of the stream is too narrow. I have tried custom CSS, but I didn’t get it working; I did find that I could get the status feed in RSS format, and then display the RSS feed in the WordPress sidebar using the a built-in WordPress widget. The result resolved my issue of the excessive margins and narrow content.

    How did you resolve your issue?

    I’m just using the standard FB fanbox…
