replace comment numerial with image

Searched around and it doesn’t appear that this is anywhere to be found.
I found a couple of posts with replacing comment numerial count with images…but what I’m looking to do is more dynamic I guess.

What I hope to achieve is a dynamic image in the comments bar…

so 3 people comment on a post…and beside the post now I have

comments: 3

I assume the page gets that by looping through comments…

But how can I get it to know to grab the 3 image and place it there instead of the 3 that’s generated….and when it increments…it puts the 4 image.
