Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
– repairing your database
– speaking to your hosts
Thanks. If I deactivate plug-ins, do I have to plug them back in? I’m so not good with the backend stuff. Just trying to figure it all out. Also, how do I repair my database?
Also, I see this: Twenty Ten 1.2 by the WordPress team
But not Twenty Eleven. Do I have to search for it specifically somewhere?
My apologies! I didn’t check to see what version of WordPress you are running. Yes – try using the Twenty Ten theme but do think about upgrading asap. You’re taking a serious risk by leaving your site a few versions behind.
I spoke to Yahoo yesterday but they said they don’t support the new version.
They’ve been saying that for over a month. You might want to try looking for new hosts.
Do you have a suggestion? ALso, if I change the theme, do I just change it? Or do I have to do anything else to make sure everything is in the right place. Sorry, I just have no idea what I’m doing and there’s no real customer service in WordPress!
if I change the theme, do I just change it?
Yes. You can always change back again later.
I just have no idea what I’m doing
Have you tried searching and reading some of the documentation in the Codex?
there’s no real customer service in WordPress!
It’s free software. What did you expect? If you want professional help (other than that offered by this volunteer-staffed forum) you’ll need to consider hiring someone.
So, it’s so slow, I can’t even deactivate all my plug ins. It just stops working. Any ideas? I will try to read as much as I can, thanks for the tips.
I would see if the host can restart your apache process. This will usually buy you enough time to try some of the other suggestions.
The restart is a quick fix to allow you to find the real issue.
Good luck…keep us posted.

Thanks everyone! I finally got it moving again after about an hour on the phone with Yahoo. I appreciate all your help as a totally clueless blogger. But I’m getting there.
