footer and sidebar not respecting my authority!

ok so i rigged my own template and i’m having trouble getting my sidebar firstly to space off the page-content for a right margin

then i also can’t figure out how to make my footer at the bottom!

Here’s the kicker, it looks fine right now in IE5 but in firefox 1.5 that’s where it’s messed up. I usually dont’ have such difficulties, but this one is on day 5 and i’m getting aggrevated!!
