Deactivating the plugin and reactivating should have this affect.
We’ll be adding a cancel button in the future though.

Well unfortunately deactivating the plugin does not stop a backup process. I deactivated the plugin and activated it again and backup was still running when I clicked on Activity log.

Deactivate and delete the plugin, then reinstall it.
Next version will just require deactivation and reactivation but I think a cancel button might be added just before release.
Next version has much quicker backup and fixes some hanging issues too if you are experiencing them. You can download a stable beta (if we don’t add cancel button this will become release without any change) from here, “Development Version” under the “Other Versions” list:

You’ll need to uninstall and delete existing plugin and then “Add New” and “Upload”.

Well the process was killed, or at least it looked like it until I tried to start a manual backup and it said the backup could not be started because another backup process is already running.
Even though I clicked on Activity before I started manual backup and made sure nothing is running, after the failed attempt to start backup there was a backup running.

I’m sorry, but I have to wait until the released version is out. If I install your plugin and my site crashes my boss is going to not only fire me, but probably also sue me.
Well it’s not that bad, but what I am trying to say is, I am very careful with beta releases, since I cannot afford downtime on my site.
