• When I converted to WP 3.2.1 my ability to upload images in a post became unusable. When I upload an image from my computer or media files, the image loads in, but then the entire screen freezes and I cannot do any image editing or insert into a post.

Also this seems to have effected by Buddypress Plug-in, which in now not functioning correctly in the groups function.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Yes, I deactivated all plug-ins, downloaded new versions of everything, cleaned my database, reinstalled, switched to twenty Eleven theme from the one I spent hours customizing and still the link to upload images does not work. I’ve even deactivated buddypress and reinstalled all that too. The only thing that seems to solve the problem is reinstalling WordPress 3.1.4. Then everything works fine. I think you have a bug in the upgrade that needs to be fixed.

Add to the issue that when I now create a group for my site, 4-5 groups with the same name are installed….go figure

Did you try resetting the plugins folder?

I tried to do the resetting of the plugins folder via ftp because the myadmin did not have the areas mentioned in the link you sent. I’m going to reinstall WP 3.2.1 and see if I can resolve some issues. Along with what I’ve already told you about, I can’t seem to block members from posting. They can post, but seems they need it approved? Before, I could set the general settings to not allow members to create new posts, just put in comments and create groups and forums.

Here is how I fixed it:
    WP: 3.2.1

I went in my admin dashboard – plugins – checked all – bulk action – deactivate. On the next tab I tried inserting an image into a post, it did work!
Went back to the plugins screen, checked all – bulk action – activate. Tested again on the next tab by posting an image, still works! Voilà! I changed nothing.
