In IE7, when I try to connect with FB to post a comment, I only see the text “Connect with Facebook”, the button is not rendered.

Does your theme have the proper wp_footer() and wp_head() calls in it?

Well, then the only thing I can think of is to not use IE7.

The JS that makes the button draw comes from Facebook’s servers. If it doesn’t work in IE7 there’s nothing I can do about it.

You mean it is not possible to replace the button with a static image?

No, it’s not. The FB buttons come from FB’s javascript. They’re not simple links.
