    I have the box “Convert emoticons like πŸ™‚ and πŸ˜› to graphics on display” checked but my smiles still aren’t showing up. I’m using the right symbols but all I see is the text version, not an image. Any ideas?

    Also is there such a plugin that would allow clickable smiles like in a small side/pop-up menu where you don’t have to type them in? If you’ve ever used CuteNews you should know what I’m talking about.

  • I’m having the same problem.

    I had no problem with this blog whatsoever until I installed the “customsmileys” plugin last week – then everything seemed to go haywire. I got rid of the plugin completely, and then reinstalled my usual smilies – including the vars.php file.

    But my smilies still aren’t showing up. Any help here would be met with much gratitude!!

    I didn’t even install that plugin. I tried re-uploading my vars file but its still not working πŸ™

    I’ve re-done mine and my smilies several times, and still have the same problem. I want my emotes back!!!

    Alright. I got mine fixed. Make sure the paths in the vars.php file are correct:

    (around line 80)

    $wp_smiliesreplace[] = " <img src='" . get_settings('siteurl') . "/wp-includes/images/smilies/$img' alt='$smiley_masked' class='wp-smiley' /> ";

    HOT DOG! I’ve been looking for an answer to this ever since I upgraded to 2.0. I found tons of stuff about the smilies not showing up but this was the first one that fixed it!
